Muslims, ACLU challenge the government's no-fly list

With terrorism fears heightened following the discovery of another plot to blow up a plane using an underwear bomb, the American Civil Liberties Union is trying to have one of the government’s tools against terrorism ruled unconstitutional.

The no-fly list has been around since 2003 and has grown to roughly 20,000 names, including about 500 U.S. citizens. It’s maintained by the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center, which also keeps a terrorist watch list with more than 500,000 names.

The ACLU filed suit in 2010 and will argue this week the case should be heard in U.S. District Court in Portland. “In the modern day, air travel is absolutely fundamentally important to how we travel on a daily basis,” says ACLU attorney Nusrat Choudhury, “and that right to travel is protected by the Constitution’s promise of due process.”

The case involves 16 plaintiffs who are all U.S. citizens and Muslims. They argue the government refuses to explain why they were put on the list. It’s a point the TSC does not dispute. An official told Fox News that telling people they’re on the list would “compromise security.”

“If terrorists knew they were on the list, they would change their identity or turn to an operative who may not be on the list to conduct an attack,” the TSC official said.

Jamal Tarhuni is one of the Americans on the no-fly list, and he says the feds got it wrong. The Oregon businessman only learned he was on the list when he tried to fly home to Portland from Tunisia. He had just completed a humanitarian visit to his native Libya with the Christian group Medical Teams International. They delivered water and medical supplies to victims of the country’s civil war.

Clinton to Muslims: Pay No Attention to GOP Campaign Talk

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told an audience of Arab students in Tunisia on Saturday to not pay any attention to the rhetoric and comments made by the Republican candidates vying for President Barack Obama’s job, saying their rhetoric does not reflect U.S. policy.

According to CNN, Clinton’s remarks came in response to a question from a Tunisian student in the audience who asked about the pro-Israel stance of nearly every American politician — Democrat or Republican — when they run for office.

“You will learn as your democracy develops that a lot of things are said in political campaigns that should not bear a lot of attention,” Clinton said. “There are comments made that certainly don’t reflect the United States, don’t reflect our foreign policy, don’t reflect who we are as a people. If you go to the United States you see mosques everywhere, you see Muslim Americans everywhere. That’s the fact. So I would not pay attention to the rhetoric.”

“I would say watch what President Obama says and does. He’s our president. He represents all of the United States,” Clinton added, saying she was surprised people in Tunisia and other countries “pay more attention to what is said in our political campaigns than most Americans.”

She also predicted Obama will win a second term in the fall.

“He will be re-elected president,” Clinton said. “I think that will be a very clear signal to the entire world as to what our values area and what our president believes.”

"Only the males are killed in accordance with the rules," said journalist Heba Nasreddin, while "the piglets and sows are hit with an iron bar and left to bleed to death." The slaughter caused controversy from its start on May 3, when riot police clashed with stone-throwing pig farmers trying to prevent their animals from being taken away.

Arab 'intellectuals,' both Christian and Muslim, have accused President Hosni Mubarak's government of having conspired with the Islamist opposition the Muslim Brotherhood, which opposes rearing pigs "on Islamic land."

Muslims Throw Acid on Bishop Who Opposes Sharia Courts

KAMPALA, Uganda, December 28 (CDN) — Islamic extremists threw acid on a church leader on Christmas Eve shortly after a seven-day revival at his church, leaving him with severe burns that have blinded one eye and threaten sight in the other.

Bishop Umar Mulinde, 37, a sheikh (Islamic teacher) before his conversion to Christianity, was attacked on Saturday night (Dec. 24) outside his Gospel Life Church International building in Namasuba, about 10 kilometers (six miles) outside of Kampala. From his hospital bed in Kampala, he told Compass that he was on his way back to the site for a party with the entire congregation and hundreds of new converts to Christianity when a man who claimed to be a Christian approached him.

“I heard him say in a loud voice, ‘Pastor, pastor,’ and as I made a turn and looked at him, he poured the liquid onto my face as others poured more liquid on my back and then fled away shouting, ‘Allahu akbar [God is greater],’” Mulinde said, still visibly traumatized two days after the assault.

A neighbor and church members rushed him to a hospital in the Mengo area of Kampala, and he was then transferred to International Hospital Kampala.

“I have to continue fighting this pain – it is too much,” Mulinde said. “My entire body is in pain. Most of the night I miss sleep.”

His face, neck and arms bore deep black scars from the acid, and his lips were swollen.

“The burn caused by the acid is so severe that there is an urgent need for specialized treatment,” said area Christian Musa Baluku Symutsangira. “I suggest that he be flown outside the country as soon as possible; otherwise Mulinde might lose both of his eyes, coupled with the spread of the burns. The burns seemed to spread and go very deep. He might need some plastic surgery.”

A doctor told Compass that acid burns cover about 30 percent of his face and has cost him sight in one eye.

“We are doing all we can to save his other remaining eye and to contain the acid from spreading to other parts of the body,” the doctor said.

Mulinde’s shirt, tie and suit were in tatters after the attack.

Mulinde said his father, Id Wasswa, was a local prayer leader or imam.

“I was born into a Muslim family, and although I decided to become a Christian, I have been financially assisting many Muslims, as well as my relatives who are Muslims,” he said. “I have been conducting a peaceful evangelism campaign.”

Mulinde said Muslim extremists opposed to his conversion from Islam and his outspoken opposition of sharia (Islamic law) courts in Uganda, known in East Africa as Kadhi courts, attacked him. On Oct. 15, area Muslim leaders declared a fatwa against him demanding his death.

Muslims fight to enforce sharia law everywhere Islam spreads. In the U.S., groups like CAIR are aggressively fighting all who oppose sharia’s application in the U.S.

Muslim baby at risk of being ‘honor’ killed must be adopted

A baby at risk of becoming the victim of an ‘honor’ killing because she was born as the result of her unmarried Muslim mother’s secret affair must be adopted to keep her safe. Problem is, under Islam, legal adoption is forbidden for Muslims.

Qur’an 33.4  - “God did not make your adopted son as your own sons. To declare them so is your empty claim. God’s word is righteous and constitutes true guidance.”

TIMES Live (H/T Maria)  Three senior judges rejected a bid by the one-year-old girl’s natural father to have her live with him and his wife. The child’s natural mother is in favour of adoption so that her own family will not find out about the birth.  

The judges imposed unusually wide reporting restrictions banning the publication of all names and locations linked to the case because of the continuing dangers faced by mother and child.  

The appeal court rejected an appeal by the father ‘F’ against a decision last July refusing him a residence order allowing the baby to live with him.  The judge ordered that ‘baby Q’ should be adopted by a couple, also Muslim, from the same country as the mother, but from a different community.  (Not possible, see video below)

She found there would be “a very significant risk of two and two being put together” if the child went to the father because Q was quite obviously not the child of his wife, who had a child of her own.  

If the child’s maternal grandfather found out about the affair “it would be a matter of intense almost unimaginable shame to him and his family”, said the judge.  The appeal court said on Wednesday: “It was plainly the judge’s view that this might provoke a murder of the child and or mother to preserve the family’s honour.”  The mother had consented to the adoption by the couple, who had been looking after her since December 2010.  

The appeal judges said Q was conceived in a relationship “which was unacceptable to M’s traditional Muslim family and conducted in secrecy”.  When M realised she might be pregnant she ran away from home. She was “terrified” over how her family would react.  As soon as Q was born, she gave her daughter up for adoption because she “genuinely feared for Q’s safety should (her father) become aware of, or forced to acknowledge, her existence”.  

Q’s grandmother had told the police that, if her husband found out about the child, “he would consider himself honour-bound to kill the child, the mother, the grandmother herself and the grandmother’s other children”.  

Upholding Mrs Justice Parker’s decision to make an adoption order, the appeal judges said: “The mother’s evidence, supported as it was by her actions, and the evidence of [the father] and an experienced police officer, drove the judge to conclude that refusal of the order would carry with it a significant risk of physical harm.  

Adoption of an orphan/helpless child was a very popular and moral practice amongst pre-Islamic Arabs. But the Prophet Muhammad forbade the Arab practice of adopting children as one’s own. Islam removes all the adopted son’s actual rights (his name, inheritance, property, right to be considered as a part of the family). One can care for an orphan in fostering capcity, but it is considered as an act of kindness and not real family and there can never be any legal relationship.

Some Islamic states have taken this narrowly, and are not even permitted to foster a child in the home. Other states, such as Egypt permit fostering in the home, but the parents are forced to evict the child at the first sign of puberty. So the 13 year old teens and tweens get put on the street or sent to an orphanage mill, or just plain kicked out and told to go away. Sick.

Terrorist Front Group CAIR says the Simpsons are “mocking anti-sharia hysteria”

On Sunday, the Simpsons show had an episode portraying a wacky future in which Bart is a layabout bum, Lisa is married to Milhouse with a snotty teenaged daughter and Maggie is an international rock star. For a brief moment, there was an offhand reference to Michigan being a sharia state, with Milhouse in a burqa.

Naturally, the fifth columnists at the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) jumped on the mention, trying to frame it to their advantage. A Twitter burp from CAIR proclaimed, ‪Video: Simpsons Episode Mocks Anti-Sharia Hysteria‬.
