Hot Air interview with Mitt Romney ~ VIDEO

“Well, the most recent attacks are really off-target, and I think they know that,” said Romney of the Obama campaign. “They said, ‘Oh, gosh, Governor Romney at Bain Capital closed down a steel factory.’ But their problem, of course, is that the steel factory closed two years after I left. Bain Capital was no longer there, so that’s hardly something that’s on my watch.”

Earlier today, I had an opportunity to speak with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney about the campaign and the economy, as well as Romney’s official endorsement of Connie Mack in the Republican primary for the US Senate race in Florida. Governor Romney is traveling in Florida today, and while he and Mack have often appeared together, Romney’s official endorsement came today. I got the first opportunity to ask him about it, and Romney cited Mack’s fiscal conservatism and leadership in the Republican Party as the reasons why he makes the best candidate to go toe to toe with incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson for the Senate seat in November. Poll: Romney leads among women, media largely silent

A new CBS/New York Times poll released Monday evening shows Romney leading Obama among women voters 46 - 44 percent in an eight point switch from April when the President led 49 - 43 percent.

"President Obama’s claim that the GOP is mounting a war on women has proven to be a failure," Paul Bedard wrote at theWashington Examiner.

On Tuesday, Bedard also noted that "[d]espite the media hyping the so-called war on women, no major outlet today noticed Romney’s new lead with women voters." More

Former Obama Adviser, Steven Rattner, Calls Obama Camp’s Bain Ad ‘Unfair’

Steven Rattner, a former Obama administration adviser on the auto bailout, said in a television interview Monday morning that the new Obama campaign ad attacking Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital is “unfair.”
Rattner, who was known as President Obama’s “car czar,” also said that job losses — like the ones featured the new ad — while unfortunate, are “part of capitalism.”
“Look, Mitt Romney made a mistake ever talking about the fact that he created 100,000 jobs,” Rattner said in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Bain Capital’s responsibility was not to create 100,000 jobs or some other number. It was to create profits for its investors — most of whom were pension funds and endowments and foundations.”
The Obama campaign’s new ad tells the story of a Kansas City steel company, purchased by Bain in 1993, that subsequently went bankrupt.
One of workers who lost their job at the plant, Joe Soptic, appears in the ad: “It makes me angry,” he says. “Those guys were all rich. They all had more money than they’ll ever spend, yet they didn’t have the money to take care of the very people that made the money for them.”
But Rattner insisted that he portrayal of the private equity firm that Romney ran was skewed in Obama’s ad.

Santorum sends late-night email to supporters endorsing Romney because "Obama must be defeated."

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rick Santorum is endorsing his one-time bitter rival Mitt Romney in a late-night e-mail to his supporters.

Santorum on Monday urged his supporters to join him in working with the effective Republican nominee to deny President Barack Obama a second term. In his message, Santorum reminded his supporters of areas where he disagreed with Romney during their slog of a primary.

Yet Santorum says that, in his words, "above all else, we both agree that President Obama must be defeated."

During their contest, Santorum bitterly clashed with Romney. At one point, Santorum called Romney the worst Republican in the country to challenge Obama.

The two met on Friday at the office of Santorum's strategist, and Romney sought to assure Santorum of his conservative credentials.

Slap at Obama, Romney, or both ??? Jimmy Carter: I’d be ‘comfortable’ with Mitt Romney

Former President Jimmy Carter said he expects President Obama to win reelection, but Mitt Romney would be his top choice on the Republican side.

"I think of all the Republican candidates who are prominent, I think Romney would be the one I would rather see have a slight possibility to be president," on MSNBC's "Jansing & Co" in an interview that aired Wednesday.

When pressed on whether he would be "comfortable" with a Romney presidency, Carter responded, "I would rather have a Democrat, but I would be comfortable."

"I think Romney has shown in his past, in his previous years as a moderate, a progressive that he was fairly competent as a governor and also running the Olympics. As you know, he has a good solid family," Carter said.
Carter accused Romney of going to the "extreme right wing" to win in the GOP primary, but said he believes candidates on both sides of the aisle tend to move toward the middle during the general election.

"I think he's gone too far in the conservative positions to suit the average American, that's why I think President Obama is going to be reelected," he said.  More

VIDEO ~ Santorum: 'Of course' I'd consider being Romney's running mate !!!

For all the scalding comments Rick Santorum has made about Mitt Romney over the past week, he'd still consider joining the Republican presidential front-runner's ticket.
The trailing GOP candidate talked about that possibility in an interview Monday with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
"Of course," Santorum said, when asking whether he'd consider being Romney's running mate.
"This is the most important race in our country's history. I'm going to do everything I can," he said. "We know their future and all of our children's future is at stake in this election, and I don't want to be the guy who has to sit with my granddaughter 20 years from now and tell stories about an America where people once were free. I don't want to have that conversation."
Asked if he's keeping his options open, Santorum responded: "I'll do whatever is necessary to help our country."
Santorum made the comment a day after he declared in Wisconsin that Romney is "the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama."
Last week, Santorum suggested Americans might as well vote for Obama if Romney wins the nomination -- a remark he later walked back.

Krauthammer Etch-a-Sketch comment huge blow to Romney campaign

Krauthammer says that the Etch-a-Sketch comment has caused huge damage to the Romney campaign because it plays right into what many on the right and the left believe about him, that he has no core and can wake up in the morning and remake himself. And to have the perfect analogy that bolsters this narrative used by his own Director of Communications, well it's not good.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy took a break from tweeting about sheds to endorse Mitt Romney for president on Thursday. “Time for Republicans to unite behind Gov/ Romney, a great leader who can win the White House and rebuild our economy for all Americans,” the “redneck” comedian wrote Thursday. Earlier, Foxworthy took to Twitter to crowd source pictures of sheds (“Post your biggest sheds on our Facebook wall and we will share them!”) and bask in the glory of a perfect day (“This will be a good day. Turkey sandwich and the Daytona 500, not much more American than that!!”). His latest tweet? “I've got plenty of new material from all the feedback since my endorsement of @MittRomney.”

While in Rockford, Mich., on Monday, Mitt Romney didn't acknowledge a question from a reporter about how his recent comments on NASCAR made him appear to voters.

On Sunday at a Daytona 500 race, Romney was asked by an AP reporter if he follows NASCAR. "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners," he responded.

Watch as Romney is asked about whether this statement makes him seem out of touch:

The Republican governor‘s endorsement comes just two days before Arizona’s presidential primary.

Mark Levin to Mitt Romney: Conservatives have had enough of your sleazy campaign tactics

WND:

Right-leaning radio host Mark Levin launched a scathing attack on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney today, labeling the former Massachusetts governor “sleazy” and “poisonous.”

On his Facebook page today, Levin tells Romney, “Conservatives have had enough of your sleazy campaign tactics.”

Levin pointed to a CNN report, which noted that in the wake of Rick Santorum’s three-state sweep yesterday in presidential primaries and caucuses, Romney would be taking a tougher approach with the former Pennsylvania senator, looking to paint him as a Washington insider.
